What if everything we are looking for has been right here?
What if everything that has happened in our lives and in the lives of our ancestors before us, helps us to understand who we are, guiding us to become who we were meant to be?
Do you believe in yourself? Or do you believe in something or someone else? What or Who is it? Is it the people who raised you, your mother or your father, or both? Your grandparents, your ancestors, your faith or culture?
What if there was a way to begin again? To truly believe in yourself? Harnessing the full power of what you’re capable of?
We are a family of shopkeepers.
Our ancestors paved the way before and for us.
They did what they could, with what they knew.
They stepped into the unknown, with a HOPE for a better life.
They had strength, courage, perseverance and persistence.
They faced barrier after barrier, believing in their ability to overcome any challenge.

We are a family of shopkeepers honouring our heritage.
We follow in the footsteps of our ancestors. To strive for a better life. To live a created life.
They left us with guidance through a filter of what they knew at the time:
"If only we had the opportunity to continue studying. Education is the key. Be studious so you can do more and be better than us"
They ran two food businesses to feed the mouths of their ten children. They wanted only the best for us all; to be able to make choices in life.
"Having a business is hard work. Try to find a stable and secure job."
Everyday, they modelled the creation of their own income, with their own bare hands.
They left us with their trademarks, their essence, their core, their hearts, and their souls.
They left us with the foundations to become better.
In 1995, after giving up our jobs, we launched our first market stall, then a food hall eatery, then a restaurant in Darwin. We hung on to a hope to pursue something better for our family.
We moved to Brisbane and in 2005, our family collectively discovered who we are and what we're about through participating in Landmark Worldwide's "The curriculum for life; encompassing the Landmark Forum, The Advanced Course and The Self Expression and Leadership Program."
In 2007, we launched a restaurant called Makanan Indonesia, West End. Makanan means cuisine.
In 2016, we launched a restaurant called Mamaku Kitchen, Clayfield. Mamaku means my mother.
In 2018, we found a learning platform that opened up our thinking about how we showed up and how we could do business differently.
In 2019, we relaunched as Mamaku Street Food, Clayfield.
In 2020, one of the ways we applied what we had learnt, was by creating our own online ordering system, removing the crutch of third party ordering platforms.
In 2022, we had the opportunity to honour our family and business journey through our story Mother's Table (click here to view via sbs on demand).
Bit by bit we were getting closer, closer to what we really wanted to do and be in the world.
In 2024, we joined "The Team, Management and Leadership Program" causing teams around us to cause and create projects in the world that mean something to us.
We remain curious, wondering how we can have something of our own but equally experience financial viability and stability?
And we realised, for us, it’s about wanting to make a difference.
What do you mean?
It means that our passion lies in helping and serving others to be their best selves and achieve the greatness that awaits them. We authentically share what’s made the biggest difference for us in our business journeys and in our transition from traditional to digital pathways; what's helped us to become the best version of ourselves.

Do you believe in life-long learning?
Do you believe we are never done, never really "cooked"?
Our ancestors left us with much more than HOPE.
They gave us life and their lives, they gave us a step up.
Their sacrifices and struggles, now our honour and privilege.
Who are we not to be great because of and for them?
How does finding yourself help you find your legacy?
You come to recognise the parts of you that have always been there. What is most important to you has always been there. Who you want to be in the world has always been with you.
Now you just need to know how to unleash the YOU within you.
